But while the overall global inflation trend is currently flat to down, if you drill into specific inflationary components youl see a very different picture.

The graph below shows the CRB/BLS Foodstuffs Index which tracks the spot price of 10 agricultural commodities; butter, cocoa, corn, hogs, lard, soybean oil, sugar, Minneapolis wheat and Kansas City Wheat. • [By John Udovich]

For investors looking for exposure to the US commonwealth of Puerto Rico, banking stocks Doral Financial Corp (NYSE: DRL), First Bancorp (NYSE: FBP), OFG Bancorp (NYSE: OFG) and Popular Inc (NASDAQ: BPOP) offer the best bet as these Puerto Rico stocks trade on major US exchanges rather than the OTC. However, it should be mentioned that there has been a slowdown in Puerto Rico economy which has also shrunk in five of the past seven fiscal years. Then lastFebruary, Puerto Rico debt was cut to speculative grade by the three largest credit-rating companies whileGovernor Alejandro Garcia Padilla has proposed a series of budget cuts to help tackle the island mounting debt load -including the freezing public workerssalaries and the closing about 100 schools.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Jonathan Buck]

The prospects of Adecco, which competes with the likes of Manpower (MAN) and Randstad Holding (RANJY), are closely tied to growth in gross domestic product, so an improvement in the economic outlook for Europe is good news. In the euro zone, comprising the 17 countries that use the common currency, GDP shrank 0.4% in 2013, according to forecasts. It is expected to grow 1.1% in 2014. That an important turnaround: the euro zone has seen positive growth in on two of the past five years.

  • [By Monica Gerson]

  • [By James E. Brumley]

Look out Kelly Services, Inc. (NASDAQ:KELYA), and step aside ManpowerGroup Inc. (NYSE:MAN). A young company called Staffing 360 Solutions Inc. (OTCBB:STAF) is coming up fast in your rear-view mirror, and is poised to dominate the fastest growing arena of the temporary staffing world.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By John Udovich]

On Monday, small cap molecular diagnostic stock Myriad Genetics, Inc (NASDAQ: MYGN) suddenly sank 9.34% to $23.50 just before the market closedmeaning its probably a good idea to take a closer look at what happened yesterday plus compare the stock performance verses small cap peer Sequenom, Inc (NASDAQ: SQNM) and mid cap peer Hologic, Inc (NASDAQ: HOLX).

  • [By Keith Speights]

That kind of potential could be attractive for investors -- and possibly for a larger company. In 2009, Sequenom (NASDAQ: SQNM  ) attempted to acquire Exact Sciences but ultimatelyno deal happened. Of course, back then Exact Sciences was a penny stock. Now, it has a bigger market cap than Sequenom does.

Next Tuesday, Emerson Electric (NYSE: EMR  ) will release its latest quarterly results. The key to making smart investment decisions on stocks reporting earnings is to anticipate how they'll do before they announce results, leaving you fully prepared to respond quickly to whatever inevitable surprises arise. That way, you'll be less likely to make an uninformed knee-jerk reaction to news that turns out to be exactly the wrong move.

  • [By Chuck Carnevale]

Actually, there are several companies on these lists that qualified for either or both of my favorites lists. For example, Aflac (AFL) and or Emerson Electric (EMR) could easily be on both lists. My point is that I feel the reader should give the same consideration to each of these names as they would the two top 10 lists. To be clear, selecting the top 10 was difficult and therefore to a great extent subjective on my part. My method was to simply run a F.A.S.T. Graphson each Dividend Champion with above-average total return calculations. Then my lists were created by picking and choosing those companies that from my review looked best based on value, earnings and safety.

  • [By Chuck Saletta]

On the flip side, the iPIG portfolio initially passed on Emerson Electric (NYSE: EMR  ) , in spite of its great business and dividend history, because its stock price was above the portfolio's buy-below valuation. Yet when the market later offered up Emerson at a lower, more reasonable price tag, the portfolio snapped up shares.
